O Lord of hosts, how I trust in your love.
Give ear to me, God of Jacob.

How beautiful your house, O Lord of hosts.
My heart is yearning for your courts, O God.
The shallow finds a place to lay her chicks
your altars, my King and my God.

How blest are they who dwells within your house:
when trouble takes the heart they look to you.
As pilgrims they will travel valleys dry,
but harvesting rains shall precede them.

To dwell one day within your holy walls
outshines a thousand days in sinner’s homes:
for God’s a sun, a shining mighty shield;
the Lord bestows
