In Matthew 14:1-12, King Herod hears about Jesus and thinks He might be John the Baptist resurrected. The passage recounts how Herod imprisoned John for condemning his unlawful marriage to Herodias, his brother's wife. At Herod's birthday banquet, Herodias' daughter dances, pleasing Herod, who promises her anything she wants. Prompted by her mother, she requests John the Baptist's head on a platter. Though distressed, Herod fulfills the request, and John's disciples bury his body.
